My experience with Paypal has been like Bill's and not like Pål's. (I didn't know
that they were operating out of the USA for Pål.)
My transactions have been simple payments which were charged to my credit card, easily
identified on the monthly statement. I have not gone on and registered a bank account
number with them as I have some concern about giving anybody the access they seek to
charging transactions against my account.

I've actually had pretty good luck with PayPal
-- it's been very convenient. Not sure how
they're enticing folks to sign up for their
service now, but when I signed up, you got
$5 deposited to your account once you set it
up. I think they've either changed or
discontinued that incentive, however. But
they now supposedly pay interest on your
account balance.
If you want to delete your account, you can
click on the "PROFILE" tab after you log in,
then click on "Close Account" in the menu on
the left side of the page. If you don't use
your PayPal account, it probably would be a
good idea to close it.
Just my USD $0.02 worth....
