Hi all!

I would like you to clarify a possible problem of fast lenses from Pentax:
what intermediate click stops do they have near wide open (e.g. 1.7 lens :
2; 2.5; 2.8, ...)
I am looking for some fast wideangles, like the 2/28 (K & A), and a few
3.5 lenses. I would like to know if they have a clickstop at next half stop
(ie 2/28 at 2.5, then 2.8, etc...) and the 3.5 lenses at 4, 4.5, ... . In
my experience, even half a stop stopped down can bring a significant
increase in lens resolution (some of my lenses even stop from 1.8 to 2,
which is almost no difference). The same with 1.7/50 - does it stop at 2;
2.5; 2,8 or only at 2.5 & 2.8 ? If the later, it would be a big fault in
those lenses, IMO.
Why I ask: I do available light most of the time, sometimes using slides,
and I use mostly older Pentax cameras, without manual electronic control of
aperture on A setting - like a K2DMD and ME S. It matters a lot to me if I
can get an increase in picture quality by stopping down slightly. I
frequently used 2.5 on a 1.8 portrait lens, sometimes even the 2 to get a
slight increase in quality, while still being a fast aperture. I would like
to get my hands on a 3.5/80-200 (or whatever focal length it was in) zoom,
where stopping down half a stop to 4 or 1 stop to 4.5 is most I can do
under available light. If those lenses did not have those intermediate
stops, they would be much less useful to me.

Thanks for the information. Most of the lenses I am looking for are to be
found only by mail-order so I can't try them myself.
