I have the Pentax-A version, which is the same lens. It is not SMC, I
agree, but it is definitely coeated. I haven't used this lens for a
long while, but I wouldn't agree with the "doorstep" definiiition. It
is the kind of lens you leave on a spare body in the car, or something
like that. Still, $75 for it is not cheap. $50 would make more sense.
