As another list member just pointed out, Lycos is *not* the one copying and
"thumbnailing" our
images; it is indeed alltheweb.com.
The thumbnails on the Lycos search pages are not on Lycos servers, they're on the
alltheweb servers.
THATS why Lycos was claiming they're doing nothing more than deep linking. Because
it's true.
Alltheweb is basically another search engine that Lycos has spidered and harvested
(funny--don't
they say that no one's allowed to do that tho them?)
If you go to http://www.alltheweb.com click on "multimedia search" at the bottom of
the page and
then search for "images" using your name you'll come up with all the photos that were
shown in the
Lycos search...only *this* time the buck does stop here because the pirated images
*are* hosted by
alltheweb.com
I'd say that Lycos is guilty of nothing more than arrogance (in their replies) and
general
obfuscation of the issue. Alltheweb, on the other hand...
