Seems like it's much easier to just say the later 6 element one has
F4 on the DOF scale and the earlier 5 element one doesnt. I cant confirm
above my memory but there is another way to tell too:
6 element is approx 85mm ( 3 3/8 inch ) from flange to front edge when
focussed at infinity
and the 5 element version is only approx. 80mm ( 3 1/8 inch ).
May be obvious but the 6 element version is bigger and better performance
than the 5 element version which BTW is no slouch at all. It's suprising
to me that pentax even bothered to update/upgrade what was already a
very good lens. Especially considering that they had to make it larger.
