Hi Paal and PDML members,
I'm just a 10-day-old PDML member. It's rather astonishing
to receive so many correspondences each day!! Anyway, it's
very nice to have this kind of society for PENTAXers!!
I agree with Paal in that the Japanese people are putting
more and more money on camera things these days. If you
go to famous sightseeing spots like Kyoto or Nara, you can
see so many expensive cameras and lenses!!
IMHO, it's because women get more familiar with photography.
Putting aside gender problems in Japan, 20 years ago, when
I first entered photography, 99% people with a camera are
all men.
In recent 4 or 5 years, camera manufacturers seemed to succeed in
taking Japanese women into the world of photos.
This has been making Japanese camera market bigger, and
many manufacturers has a model specially designed for women.
(I don't know if they are exporting these models to your
countries, but at least in Japan, Minolta and Canon surely
have such a model.)
I suppose this is a great chance for PENTAX, because
high-end cameras from Nikon, Canon, or Minolta would be
rather heavy for a woman to handle with. (I'm afraid they
are too heavy for me, too, having used an ME-F for 10 years,
now shifted to a Super-A and an LX.)
Anyway, I truly hope an MZ-S will be an excellent one,
making PENTAX very competitive!!
