Robert,
There are basically two types of finder windows and two types of magnifiers
fit on them. The K2, KX, KM, and K1000 (and maybe even the Spotmatics) use a
slightly smaller one. The ME, MX, ME Super, Super Program, Program Plus, and
PZ-1 all use a slightly bigger one.
The bigger ones are more cylindrical in shape, the smaller ones are more
conical.
Looks like you have the one you don't want! ...or get out the file and take
some metal off.
Regards, Bob S.

I've purchased a 'magnifier' to clip on the viewfinder.
It is labeled "Asahi Pentax Japan" all on line with no other ID. It
does not look
quite like either 'magnifier' that is documented at
"http://www.phred.org/pentax/k/"
which includes photos of a "magnifier M" and a "Magnifier FB"
Worse, it doesn't fit any of my cameras which include an MG, an ME
Super,
and a ZX-5. I haven't tried it on my Super Program yet, but....
In reading Carl Shipman's documentation, he mentions a "magnifier F'
for use
on the SF series cameras but says a Magnifier M will fit.
This one that I have has a chrome base and a tapered body and looks like
one
shown in numerous editions of Shipman's book mounted on a K2.
Anybody got the straight scoop on magnifiers.
