Yes, there is a C.R.I.S adapter that will let you use silver, S76, batteries
which are commonly available. The rub is that the adapters go for close to
$30.00US apiece. You can also use a Wein Zinc-air cell, but they don't last
a long time.
A web search on CRIS battery adapter, or C.R.I.S. adapter should get you a
lot of information. Wein Zinc-air cells can be found easily too.
