I'm sure you can find other hoods. Any hood for a 35mm wide
angle lens that fits a 49mm filter diameter should work OK.
Especially, look for used Pentax hoods for older 35mm lenses, if
they are 49mm diameter, they'll work. The tulip hoods were
optimized to give better shade in the horizontal than the old
standard round lens shades.
The best way to handle the problem is to do what Yoshihiko did.
Glue some flocked paper to the inside of the hood. Another way
is to remove the hood completely. Saint Adams used to shade the
lens with his hat when he needed to.
