Okay, just had a look at the pix on that website...

Firstly, the red blooming you see in those images is exactly what you
can expect from the Fuji Superias. If it bothers you, don't shoot it.
If you're like me, and like it, then rock on! :)

Looking at the images, this photographer is shooting with flash and
dragging the shutter. What I'd do is this:

1) Shoot 400 or 800 ISO film, and don't push it.

2) Shoot with a flash...a popup flash will be fine, it's just to
illuminate the foreground, like the people near you. A bigger flash
will, of course, catch more stuff.

3) Shoot wide open or near wide open with a slow shutter speed,
preferably as slow as you're comfortable hand-holding. This will let
the background colours fill in and also give you some peachy effects
like the trails from the glowsticks in the pic of the girl with the red
pants. Your flash will freeze everything but bright lights in the
foreground, so don't worry too much about camera shake, it'll only blur
the background more, and maybe give you some neat effects. I'd shoot at
1/15 sec. at whatever aperture was appropriate, not counting the flash
exposure. Don't worry about metering for the flash exposure: neg film
has a ton of latitude, and it'll only be a problem if it severely
overpowers the available light, so a smaller, weaker flash (or one with
an adjustable output) would be appropriate.

What camera are you using again? I remember that you have a 50mm f1.7,
but all of the other details have now escaped me. :)

Good luck! Don't hesitate to ask if you need more specifics.
