To amplify on Steve's reply,
There is a small hole in the lens body with a tiny spring and a ball bearing
(about the size of a ball point pen tip). The spring pushes the ball bearing
out against the aperture ring. If you look closely, you will see the groves
in the underside (inside) of the aperture ring. These are your f stops as
the ball bearing clicks into the groves.
Find the ball bearing and the spring.
