PDMLers,
This is probably a question that gets asked a whole bunch, but I have
been away from the PDML for about a year. A lengthy response needn't be
required if a suitable link or reference to an archived PDML can be supplied.
Enough crap, here's the question.
In a few months, I will be in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park on
about a week-long backpacking trip. I went on a similar trip last year with
minimal photographic success (as typical of a rookie shooting with 400 speed
print film on a 35 mm SLR). My hope is for a bit better success, and at the
root of my question, a better film. For the most part I will be shooting
landscapes, but I won't be alone, so chances are there will be a lot of
photos with people as well. (I am thinking primarily in terms of slide film
by the way, which I have shot very little of). Obvious choices are Velvia,
E100VS, E100S, and E100SW. What do you think?, and why, of course.
More info: I'm sort of leaning away from Velvia and E100VS, b/c I'd like
things to look more natural, and also the consideration of skin tones.
Whatever I decide to use, I'd like to have a while to experiment with it and
my camera's light meter before I get out there and hope they're a good
tandem.
Thanks for any suggestions
Brent
