Hi Mike and all,
The fact:
I happen to know through Pentax source that they are getting the barrel
portion of this particular lenses (Leica Screw Mount) from a subcontractor,
but they are not Cosina for sure.
The speculation:
Reason for this is probably because this subcontractor has Leica screw
cutting set-up, or making Leica lens parts etc. I do not know if Cosina may
be using the same source for some other lenses.
It is not really fair to Mike that I can not disclose the source (like he
could not :-) But I just happened to have this info directly from a solid
Pentax source (nothing mysterious about it :-) so that I wanted to present
the correct info.
Respected Mike was half right (on subcontracting) and half wrong (on Cosina)
on this account :-)
