Great minds think alike. I actually wrote my AAARRRGGHHH! before I read your
AAARRRGGHHH! <g>

Over the years, I've gotten used to this. Every time I eagerly await a new
camera, it always has an Achilles heel--something that, for me, disqualifies
it.

I had some very good contacts at Canon at one time, and I was using the
Canon EOS RT with the pellicle mirror back then, considering getting an
EOS-1. I was told way in advance that the EOS-1 RS was coming out, and that
it would be an EOS-1 with a pellicle mirror. This seemed ideal to me. I had
actually been told the price, and had saved up and set aside the money. I
was all ready to buy it, and I spent months eagerly anticipating its
introduction.

When the camera arrived, of course, it had the power booster--removable on
the EOS-1--permanently attached to the camera, making a camera that was
already only barely small enough, in my view, unacceptably large. I hadn't
been told anything about this. It came out of the blue. I was dumbstruck. I
could hardly believe it. I can't tell you how disappointed I was. I never
bought one, of course. It took me a *long* time to get over my
disappointment.

I've been hoping against hope that the prediction of the 98% finder would
prove to be true of the MZ-S. If it had, I almost certainly would have
bought one eventually. Now...well, another big disappointment for me.

(By the way, I recognize that this will not matter to many of you and that
you will happily embrace this beautiful new camera. I don't blame you. It
looks wonderful in very many ways. I speak only for myself and my own
requirements here.)

We must carry on, Gianfranco-- :- ( <----long face
