I've had the first problem on one (out of four) MX and the opposite of the
second (mirror staying up) on two MXs but for two different reasons
(mechanical fault and sticky damper foam). All appear to be simply age
related. The comment about the camera never needing to be serviced is the
clue - after twenty years it needs one now. The other common fault is the
meter behaving erratically as you change the shutter speed. Once again, a
service takes care of this. Shop around, because I have bought working MXs
for less than the cost of the service - it ain't cheap. On the other hand,
having had it done properly it should last another twenty years, just like
all those spotmatics. The third problem sounds like a duff repair - or are
you using a speed higher than the flash synch (1/60)?
