I expect that Pentax has done what the others have done:

1. The body needs to ultimately do the work (send the signal "stop" to the
flash). Note that there is a need for some "double work" either two
systems where one measures the flash and one ambient, or ony system that
   measures twice.
2. The electronics to control this feature can be on the body or on the
   flash.
3. Three possibilities here:
   a) the MZ-S is the first body that can do this, but the electronics are
in the flash. Only the new flash supports this, and the other MZ
bodies do not have this dual metering system that I mentioned in 1.
The end-effect is that only the MZ-S can do flash-compensation and
only with the new flash. This is BAD and quite possible!!!
   b) the MZ-S can do flash-compensation, and it has the control
electronics. Then the MZ-S can do flash compensation with all F-type
and G-type (the new ones) flashes. This is not too bad, but it is
unlikely because then this is a fewture of the body, and it has not
      been mentioned yet.
   c) all MZ-bodies can do flash-compensation, but the F-type flashes do
not have the control features. The new flash, however, has this
feature, so when that flash is combined with the older MZ/ZX bodies
they can do flash-compensation too. This is quite good, but we will
then need to buy the new flash. And once we have all bought it, the
flagship will arrive, with a 500-series G-type flash, and we will
need to upgrade again (the flash, I mean).

Cheers,
Boz
