Maris,

I have the following qualifications to add to the other comments here:

I have the 28-80 ATX Pro f/2.8, the newest offering. It is everything the
others have said, especially in the area of excellent optics (for a zoom).
However, if you are used to primes, you will notice slight barrel at the
short end, slight pincushion at the long end (less than in the earlier
Tokina 20-70 f/2.6-2.8 and the FA 28-70 f/4 AL Pentax, but noticeable if you
shoot straight lines near the edge of the frame).

It is quite flare resistant, again, for a zoom, with good contrast and color
rendition. It is my most frequent carrying-around lens on my PZ1p, and the
one I use most often if I am going somewhere where Iam not sure of my lens
requirement in advance. Should you buy one, be sure to take exacting tests
of the AF performance with your particular camera body, and send the lens
back if it should be subpar. I had this problem with my 80-200 f/2.8
Tokina, sent it back to THK, and they replaced it with one that works fine
(their service department is extremely accomodating if you are also
reasonable). I have heard of the same thing happening on certain Nikon
bodies. You just want to be sure before you throw out your packing.

I will be happy to post a picture taken with this lens to you directly if
you should wish.

Cheers,

Mike
