I happen to be one of those gun owners (since pre-teens) and shot competition in HS. Expert in military small arms. Was an NRA member for a dozen or so years until I quit them in disgust after Reagan was shot and folks like G Gordon Liddy prodded his radio listeners to start whacking forest rangers with "head shots" (yes some people did start doing that).

The current NRA leadership is insane. I still have my weapon and have introduced my son (a cub scout) to air rifles. My in-laws are all avid hunters.

No one has ever threatened to take my gun ownwership rights away nor is threatening to do so but I don't have Bushmasters with silencers in my arsenal either. As long as the NRA refuses to even engage in sensible gun control debate, I'll fund other, more worthy causes.

And don't get me started on Waco...

SS (not anti-gun, just anti gun-nut)

in Canada it's not like Texas and many other states
where any and everyone can have a concealed weapon on
their person. To me that's a scarey situation
especially in the Southern states where tempers can
flare very easily. I KNOW, I LIVED THERE! ( N.C. S.C.
& FLORIDA )

Sorry to burst your bubble. I live in Texas and DO have a license to carry. Not everyone can or does have one. You have to pass both a state and FBI background check. Can have NO felony convictions, lifetime, or Class A or B misdemenors within the past 10 years. You have to go through a state licensed range for classroom and range qualification, and re-qualify every four years. You can not be behind in your state, local, or federal taxes or student loans or child support. As far as the temper part, you have no idea as to what you are talking about. The tempers flare FAR worse in the north eastern states then here in Texas.
I'm glad you are now in Canada as that's just one more liberal we will not have to deal with trying to take away our constitutional right to "keep and bare arms."
I've owned and been around firearms since I was a pre-teen. (I'm now over 50), and I've =NEVER= shot anyone, nor has my gun. When you can convince the criminal element to obey the laws that are on the books now, you may have a point. But until then, any "gun control" law that is enacted affects =only= the law abiding citizen, no one else. Criminals could not care less about a law. That's why they are what they are....

Later,
Gary
