> I've 3 third party primes. All 3 focus "the wrong way". A lot of 3rd-party lenses do things "the wrong way". While the Tokina AT-X lenses seem to be "Pentax-compliant" (and, in fact, the Tokina literature emphasizes the "correct" focus direction to match the autofocus indicators in each brand's bodies), others often times do not. In particular, as much as I like some of the old VS1 glass masterpieces, I'd like them even better if they were "Pentax-compliant".
Probably the most confusing lens I ever used was a two-touch Angenieux 70-210/3.5 zoom. Not only did it focus "the wrong way", I think that the zoom ring also zoomed "the wrong way" (although I might just be remembering that part backwards - <g>). To make matters worse, the zoom and focus rings were reversed in position, as compared to the two-touch Pentax zooms with which I am most familiar (A 35-70/4, A 35-105/3.5, A 28-135/4) - i.e., the proximal ring was the focus ring while the distal ring was the zoom ring - it was truly "Pentax backwards" - <g>. In any event, it was not an intuitive lens to use at all (although quite a nice lens in other respects). Fred
