I suspect there are more than you think who do. My offhand observation was
made to invoke conversation, not acrid remarks or name calling.
I also suspect there are those PDML list members who don't want or care for
"old" technology, some because old machines, while glorious, break and when
they do, it is difficult to repair them. There are also those who don't know
hoot about shutters or apertures but like the machines PENTAX made or makes,
machines like the SUPER PROGRAM, with just enough automation to make the
craft fun. No manual anything for them.

Those who prefer manual everything prefer the older, more mechanical bodies,
especially those who like the rudiments of photography, open aperture
metering and all.
Though all are PENTAX lovers/owners, there ~are~ two camps, pure manual
owners who have never, or would ~never~ own an automated camera and those who
like or prefer automation.

As you noted, there are some who own both categories, never having made up
their mind or expressed a preference one way or the other. You injected
~your~ individual preference as if my original statement was aimed at you or
others like you, PENTAX owners who are more eclectic in their tastes.
*I was a charter member of the "no-autofocus for me" club. Failing eyesight
proved that I (some of us) would eventually buy and use autofocus.
Most of us have, some didn't or won't.
Thus, two camps, those who do...
