Hi James.

This is complete cock and bull (as we Brits say). If you are talking 
about auto-focus, I would agree, but then ANY camera takes a second to 
focus, whether it's AF or manual focus. Once that little revelation is 
taken care of, then the shutter may be released instantly. I have a D60 
and that is nowhere near 'the most expensive digital cameras', even 
though trhere is supposedly a shutter lag of about a tenth of one second, 
I cannot detect it in real world use. When I press the shutter button, it 
takes the shot right away. I use it for portrait work constantly and it 
is excellent for this.

I see no reason for the Pentax DSLR to be any different.
