I have this lens, and the FA28-70/4, and by comparison the A24-50 seems much
more prone to flare than the newer lens. However the build quality and
"feel" of the A is wonderful, making it a pleasure to use with the MEsuper.
Likes: Build, feel, well matched to MEs, overall sharpness
Dislikes: Flare, range, difficult to focus compared with A50/1.7

I guess this makes it usable only for the tactile experience :), as the
FA28-70 outclasses it in all other respects.

Has anyone had any experience with this lens, or opinions about it? I
just picked one up off eBay (Buy-it-now <g>), and I'm curious about its
optical qualities. I seem to remember us having a conversation about it a
while back, but I couldn't find it in the archives. I think Shel said
that he either liked it or hated it, but I can't remember
which. :) Either way, I'll have one soon. I have a Cambron 24/2.8 in
K-mount, which is acceptable for snapshots, but it'll be nice to have an
actual Pentax lens, even if it's not a prime. :)
