You might look at a HAMA collapsible rubber hood. Better is the HOYA rubber
lens hood they call "One touch Multi-lens."
The Multi-lens hood covers tele, standard and wide angles, three specific
settings for nearly ever filter size and as it says, you can go from one size
to the other with a flip.

In the catalog, it is: HOYA xx(mm) M/A rubber: about $15-20 and well worth it.

With the proper hood (filter) size, the HOYA does more than any other hood
I've used to cover the situations you described.
