I won't get into the personal reasons as to why I'm having a lousy weekend. Let's just say it hasn't exactly worked out the way I'd hoped. So what do I do when things look down? Right, grab a camera and go and take pictures.
So, that's what I did. I walked out of my apartment with my Leica CL around my shoulder. When I went to take a picture, the meter wouldn't work (it worked as recently as Boxing Day). And, the indicator in the viewfinder won't go any lower than 1/30th. The shutter speed dial is ~very~ stiff below that speed, but it appears that the shutter speeds themselves are okay. I suspect the problem to be mechanical, as the "meter check" button produces no response, and that only checks that the little rods that connect the meter mechanism to the rest of the camera are in alignment. But, the problem could be electical as well, I don't know. Whatever it is, I can't imagine that the repair will be cheap. Sigh... I think I'll rent a depressing movie. At least that way I won't feel alone. regards, frank -- "The optimist thinks this is the best of all possible worlds. The pessimist fears it is true." -J. Robert Oppenheimer
