I think "monocular" would be be OK, but I think that what he created is now to be used as a "loupe" (pronounced as "loop"), right? (Of course, I doubt that "loupe" is a purely English word - it's probably imported from French, I'll bet - so the spelling probably isn't really even "English spelling"... - <g>) Fred
