Interesting. Not being a brewer, I never really thought about the
process. Let me add that the Ultra was a refreshing drink. I just like
the taste of beer and this wasn't fulfilling that need. If they could
make something with no alcohol that tasted like Guiness, I'd buy it.

Steve,

I think most low alcohol beers would be considered "low carb" as the
ingredient that makes the alcohol content in beer is the malt, which,
is a
carbohydrate (form of sugar).

Most beer "kits" (the homebrew ones that you can get in a can) ask you
to
use refined white sugar to create the alcohol content because there's
not
enough real "malt" in the kit.

Take away the sugars and you can't create a decent "normal" (i.e. 5%)
alcohol content beer.

Cheers,
Dave

I don't brew my own (yet) but I do have a story. At a New Year's Day
party, my host offered my a Michelob Ultra, the low carb beer. (I am
watching my calories, BTW, so this wasn't idle cruelty). Having said
this, I defy anyone to find anything with the word "beer" on the label
that tastes more like soda water. It wasn't unpleasant; almost
anything
cold, wet and fizzy is refreshing. It's just not "beer". Truly,
folks,
I suppose there is some alcohol, but if you want the great beer
non-experience, this is the one for you.
