Not with the FA*, but I have used both -L converters
with the manual focus A* 300mm f/2.8

The results are quite good, no vignetting and very little loss in 
sharpness and contrast. (1.4x is a bit better than 2x of course)

I have also used the A* 300mm f/2.8 a lot with the 1.7x autofocus
adapter, this makes a quite useable autofocus 510 mm ...
