Hi, Geordie,

I don't know where in Canada you live, but you may want to try Kominek's here in
Toronto (sorry to sound like a broken record, but I like these guys, and I'll
plug 'em whenever I can <g>):

http://www.kominek.com/index.html

You can e-mail them from the site, and in my experience, they're pretty good at
answering in a timely fashion. They also do repair by mail.

IIRC, I paid somewhere around $150 (including taxes) to get my MX CLA'ed, but
that included new seals (I think they charged $12 for the parts). They do good
work, at least they have for me, and I think Dave Chang-Sang had a good
experience there as well with a Pentax zoom that Pentax Canada wouldn't touch.
One of their techs more or less specializes in Pentax gear.

So, send 'em an e-mail, see what they say. Couldn't hurt.

But, as to the "big question", I'd repair the thing, especially if you can get it
done for around $150 to $200 all in. You won't buy a cheaper one, and this one
(as you say) will be good to go for several years.

regards,
frank
