Maris< i abandoned track balls after about 4 years of use. it simply doesn't offer the control even a mouse has for photo editing. why? because you can't do a smooth stroke in a given direction and shape. i still have one track ball i use on a machine that has essentially no desk space. i use a Wacom Intuous 6x8 and it is what anyone doing photo retouching work should be using. anything less eats your time.
