It depends also on the program the printer uses. Already a few years back at Photokina I saw in Ilfords box 2 printers that printed on a paper roll maybe 5 and 10 meters (yes, meters) wide - this is from memory, but the biggest one was really huge - the prints were totally grainless and had good resolution. Surely the originals were large format but it shows the potential. And that is why prints from relatively low pixel files look surprisingly good. All the best!
