If it does what you want, it is worth doing it. My MX is all I want
in an SLR, so much so that the ZX5N and PZ-1 haven't seem much use in
the last year. I've been even thinking about selling one of them to
help finance a Leica M body!
My next Pentax camera will be another MX, just because they are not
getting any cheaper or easier to find.
I'm not versed in prices for other brands older manual cameras, but I
get the feeling that putting together a similar system as my everyday
one (MX, M50 1.4, M28 3.5, M135 3.5, FA 35 2) would be a lot more
expensive if I went with Nikon, for example (this is only from brief
glances at KEH listings.)
Of course, if you want USM and IS, no amount of money will get it for
you in K mount right now.
