They probably are already to some degree, but that's to ease test/assembly/manufacture/repair; not upgrade. Cameras are just not computers. Changing things like sensors in a DSLR is like changing the chipset (VIA, Intel, etc.) that's soldered to the motherboard, and not the CPU.
