Leaving the lens on the A setting every time you want to use the camera manually
seems a pointless waste of having an aperture ring in the first place.  Thought
I can see the advantages of using the combination of the exposure compensation
button and the selector switch to select an aperture, I feel your putting more
effort into the picture by turning the ring itself.
