Joe, My experience with a Z-1 and it's built-in flash in combination with an AF400T is that it does not give Contrast Control (CC) output (ie. 1/3 of the power through the built-in and 2/3 through the hotshoe). I think that CC is reserved for combinations with the newer digital flashes (FTZ-series).
Contrast Control (CC) work only with: AF330FTZ, AF500FTZ, AF360FGZ Michel
