I don't understand the condition exactly so I just tell what I know. I don't do extensive repair on my cameras as I don't have the skill. However, I have done some minor repair on my MXs and there are 2 things you might need to check.Who does shutter release repair out there? I just acquired this MX from a list member who shall remain unnamed. It's not what was represented, but might be usable. Right now the shutter release always allows the shutter to fire, Locked or not. What should I look @ in order to possibly repair it? Here's what I've seen: When the film advance is in, the blade that shields the release plunger from the top button comes out about 1/3 of the way. Should it come out further?
1) The shutter release lock on the top plate. Believe it or not, I have seen some MXs with rusting locks which jammed. The lock itself is held by 2 screws (different length). Remember their position and remove them. Check if there is rust inside. Mind you that different age MXs have slighty different but seem identical locks & screws. They aren't exactly interchangable, so be careful.
2) Rusting inside the camera, near the shutter releasing button. Usually caused by liquid got in from the release cable socket. This could be an easy fix. Just remove the top plate, remove the rusting part from the camera if you must, use fibra brush to brush off the rust until smooth, then use oil or 2 products called DeoxIT & PreserIT to clean up the rusting metal. I fixed my own MX this way (it was jammed when I bought it 5 yrs ago).
3) Don't know... :)
