Purely my opinion here: I have found you can make
marvelous images with an under $400 digital camera,
but you need a $500+ printer/or a lab-to bring out the
best in most images. 

"Home" printers that sell for under $500 usually are
not up to the task of making "photorealistic" prints.

Of course someone wil point out how well their under
$500 printer works but then, I did say it was my
opinion.
