Hi,
I don't use Photoshop, but the Corel's Photopaint, but perhaps this will help:
When I want to save a part of an image to a file, then instead of using the cropping
tool I use the mask (selection) and immediately after that I use "Write to file..."
menu command. This way I get my selected area saved to the file in any format I want.
This is in fact two-steps operation, easy and quick...
