I have the 500/5.6 adapted for my Pentax 645. I haven't tested it for sharpness but get even exposure across the slides and no vignetting. As to 35mm mirrors, I would recommend the 350/5.6 Tamron. It's a great backpacking telephoto, reasonably sharp, and is only about 2 1/2 inches long.
