F100 doesn't have OTF metering for the flash. Metering pre-flash is
reflected for gray-painted curtain (after mirror is up), then the main flash
is fired. Positive side of this is that pre-flash and main flash are almost
undistinguishable unlike in Canon and Pentax, where you can see both light
streams.

Canon's E-TTL works exactly the same way (before mirror is up).
