I understand the 1/4 plate (4X5) and original 8X10 plate beginnings but what is the 
source of the 5X7?  And while we're at it... how did the 2 1/4 X 2 3/4 or 3 1/4 all 
evolve?  

Cliff Klaven's little known fact:  The term 10X8 began with a dyslexic professor in 
London, circa 1882.  He went on to become a blues guitar player and sold his sole to 
Santa.
