I think just by the expected $400 price it's fair to say the *ist is not entry-level. The standard for entry-level SLRs these days is $200-$250, thereabouts. Apart from the viewfinder, the *ist has some pretty formidable features. (And keep in mind that the viewfinder will be better for digital than it is for 35mm....) --Mike
