It's unfortunate for us and for all the people who conceptualize
photography as an art form, but not everyone does. For most people,
photography is simply a means of recording their memories on paper, and
that's it. And I don't think there's anything inherently bad about
that. I mean, calligraphy is a gorgeous art form and it would be nice if
we all wrote like that. But for most of us, it's not worth the time and
effort to attain that level of skill, and our messy chicken scratch
suffices for practical purposes. It's not a perfect analogy, but it
serves to illustrate the point.
