Hi all, Mike has a nice column, bits and pieces of which we've already read on this list, that includes his current thinking on the *ist (which I still think means "realist" as in: "what's going to make us the most money as a common digital/film platform"). He sets the *ist up to make his point about why he ended up buying an LX. The funny thing is that he doesn't sound all that confident about actually keeping the LX. Perhaps here's a clue: I had a run of getting an LX, having its shutter sound slowly but surely drive me nuts, selling the LX, then thinking I'd made a mistake, getting another one (or two), and then repeating the same cycle. Now "going all digital" of course eliminates the shutter sound question (you can now download your own choice or go silent). But I'm willing to bet that "quiet shutter" Mike is going to, well....
What will the *ist sound like? If no one ends up buying the 77LTD maybe I'll keep it on the ME SuperSE (where it currently resides), now THAT was Pentax's best attempt at making a camera that sounded quietly right.... Tom
