Yeah, I remember the "sucker car", but that was before I was attending races in
person.  Not only was it "too effective", but when it lost downforce, it tended to
jump off the track, much like a suction cup on a wall.  It tended to fly off the
track with no warning at all.

Brabham tried it in F1 in the 80's IIRC, trying to pass the big fans off as cooling
devices (ha!).  They were banned as well.
