Sid,

When I picked up my PZ1 (a surprise find at my local camera shop, they were asking $250 but I offered $200 and got it, including a 50/1.7 F lens), I sent it to Pentax for a CLA -- mostly to replace the scratched viewfinder eyepiece, but also for a full bring-it-back-to-spec tuneup since it's one of the few older bodies Pentax still supports.

It's probably a good thing the PZ-1p is so similar -- they probably only still offer service on the PZ-1 because the PZ-1p only now is out of production.

Since this sounds like a software/circuitry/program problem, maybe sending it to Pentax would be a good idea, or were you looking specifically for an independent repair person?

Joe

HI all,
I"m going to send off my PZ1 to get fixed. Besides the flash problem I'm having, it seems to want to sync at the lowest possible shutter speed, even at 800 ISO, in full program mode, it tries to sync at 45 or 60, and if I set it to sports mode, it won't go any higher regardless. When i switch to hyperprogram, and change the shutter speed to 125, 180 even, it doesn't start flashing a warning, so I know the meter says it is OK to do that, so something (I think) in the program is malfunctioning, or needs adjustment.

Perhaps there is a custom function that I have set wrong? ( I lost my card and owner's manual, so I don't know any of the functions except the ones I use alot, like film rewind, film rewind with leader out, and a couple of the other ones.

But, It is a good idea, I think, to send this baby off for a CLA and check the other stuff.

Thanks for any offerings about a reputable repairman you may have had experience with.
Regards from South Louisiana
Sid B
