Hi, Malcolm, I probably shoot 90% B&W, most of that Ilford hp5+. I used to be a diehard TriX user until one of our local camera shops started selling hp5+ at 3 rolls for $10 Cdn. TriX usually goes for over $5 a roll. As I used hp5+, I started liking it more and more.
I mostly shoot colour for family snaps, and usually use Portra 400 for that. As I know I've told the list before, I started using b&w when I was a kid, because back then it was much cheaper than colour to process. When I got back into photography several years ago, I went with what I was most comfortable with, and stuck with b&w. There are "philosophical" reasons for liking b&w as well, but they're probably not worth getting into now. Suffice to say that I think most of my shooting just works better that way - I don't think my submission to this month's PUG would have worked nearly as well in colour... regards, frank Malcolm Smith wrote: > Having just had Amateur Photographer's B&W special (08-03-03) edition drop > through the door, I realised I hadn't used B&W for years until I joined the > list some time ago.
