Who says this? This is total BS. The old lenses were better built, yes. Older lenses often feel better when focusing manually, yes. The old primes can give modern a primes a run for their money, yes. But I've never heard anyone say that the quality of the glass was different or that new optical designs are not as good as the older ones. Obviously the low-end zooms today may not be as good as the upper-end zooms of yesteryear, but they're surprisingly close. And I'd take a good zoom today over any zoom lens from 25 years ago. And the only negative thing I have to say about the build quality of Pentax's standard lenses today is that it's not as good as it used to be, but it's more than comparable to what's available from C/N/M. You need to do some more research, or, better yet, actually use some lenses. chris
