The tested (CDI) difference between the F and FA* 300/4.5 lenses is within sample to
sample variations of theses lenses. No valid conclusion can be based on this test
alone. I seriously doubt that FA* 85/1.4 is better than the A lens. I know that the A*
135/1.8 is better lens than the FA* 85/1.4. According to all tests I've seen the A*
85/1.4 is better than the A* 135/1.8. Hence, I see no reason to expect that the FA*
lens is any better and its certainly not the best 85mm lens in the world. For what its
worth the 77 Limited is better regardless of what CDI claims. CDI's tests are worth
nothing and are always contradictory to anybody elses and personal experience.
