I probably shouldn't jump into this, but sometimes I throw caution to the winds before I think about it too much. This is one of those times ;-). I wouldn't appreciate an unwarned link to a "looking up the crotch" shot of a woman either. >What I was trying to do was to start a discussion about > why in our society we are so convinced that certain parts of our bodies > are so highly disgusting and objectionable. Sure in the last 20 years or so Western societies have become much less sexist, but the basic reason is because our societies have been very paternalistic and in many instances still are. Ergo, nude shots of the "lesser sex" the ones with less power were/are okay. Nudes shots of the sex with the great power were/are not. That's just the way it works. "I am a man I have my dignity and a shot of my dick is lowering and/or makes me look vulnerable." (Body parts *are* literally vulnerable, especially primary and secondary sexual body parts). Also, in addition, if you don't like that explanation, it also has to do with what men find sexy in women and what women find sexy in men. They aren't necessarily the same thing. Sexy and or sexy nude women are still a big marketing ploy. Last, but not least, men are not trained to be as body conscious, ergo, proud of their bodies as women are. (For reasons, see above.) I have found over the years that men tend not to see the beauty in male bodies. Usually. There is actually beauty in any human body, male or female, even if it is old and saggy. But there is also a difference between nudes and "pornography." However, I am definitely not going to go there. No how, no way. Doe aka Marnie :-)
