Tony, Last summer, I had a jolly good time at the PDMLUK-event shooting flying Spitfire planes with the A*400/2.8 and the F-1.7TC.
The converter did a very good job combined with that particular lens, but I have had some other good experiences too. Like with M-200/4, A-50/1.7 and K-135/2.5 to name a few. I second the comment on finding something else to test focus on.
